
The Annual General meeting (AGM) of the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) was held on Monday 27th October in the Olympic Museum in Lausanne and unanimously elected the IFF Secretary General John Liljelund as the new ARISF vice president for the period for 2025-2029. Mr. Liljelund has for 8 years served as a member of the ARISF Executive committee and during that time actively worked for the development of the ARISF Strategic Plan and the implementation of that.
– The election of John Liljelund as the ARISF vice president is a great success of both floorball family and John personally. ARISF is a key partner of Olympic movement and floorball now has nr.2 position there. For floorball it is very important to be in leadership of this organization to increase the visibility and awareness of Floorball and IFF within the International Sports community, says IFF President Mr. Filip Suman.
The ARISF AGM further re-elected the ARISF President Mr. Raffaele Chiulli 19 votes (Powerboating – UIM) after a tight election towards the present ARISF vice president Ms. Anna Arzhanova 16 votes (Underwater Sports – CMAS), Mr. Riccardo Fraccari (Baseball-Softball WBSC) as the ARISF secretary general and three Executive Board members elected are Ms. Zena Wooldridge (Squash – WSF), Mr. Robert Rauch (Flying disc -WFDF) and Ms. Anna Arzhanova (Underwater Sports).
The new IOC President Ms. Kristy Coventry addressed the AGM stressing the importance to embrace the needs of the new generations in and entering sport.
The World Boxing federation was approved as the 40th ARISF member, which is the new boxing federation, after the change of the IOC recognition of the International Boxing Association (IBA) due to governance and integrity issues.
Thirty-seven members of the 40 ARISF members joined to discuss the general questions that are affecting the 40 ARISF members. The main discussions are related to the implementation of the ARISF Strategy Plan, that was approved in the AGM in 2024. Based on this ARISF has started several projects and educations aiming to help strengthening the operations of the diverse group of ARISF members.
ARISF has executed a Good Governance review run by ITrust Sport, to map the present status of the ARISF federations level of Good Governance and then be able to build educational programs for the different issues. Further there has been work done in the field of Anti-Doping, Safeguarding , Sustainability and Prevention of the Manipulation of Competition.
The Brisbane Olympic Games organising committee presented the process for the inclusion of the additional sports by the games Sport director Mr. Kit McConnell and that Brisbane will present a shortlist of 8-9 sports for the programme.
