For the first time in history, Czechia will compete in the women’s final of the World Floorball Championships, joined by Switzerland, who secured their spot by defeating Sweden 6-3 in the semi-finals.

Czechia delivered a stunning performance today, edging out Finland 1-0 in a tightly contested match. The only goal of the game—and the decisive one—was scored by Czech captain Michaela Kubeckova, who had previously missed a penalty shot. The Czech team celebrated this historic achievement, as they have never before reached the women’s final in the World Floorball Championships. Additionally, it was announced during the match that this year’s tournament has set a new attendance record, with 47,942 spectators.

Switzerland’s victory over Sweden was more straightforward, with a final score of 6-3. The Swiss team took an early lead just three minutes into the game, thanks to a goal from Seraina Fitzi. By the end of the first period, they were ahead 4-1. As the third period began, Switzerland added another goal, allowing them to enter the final 20 minutes with confidence. Anja Wyss scored to make it 6-1, prompting Sweden to call a time-out. Although Sweden managed to score twice afterward, they were unable to mount a successful comeback. This marks Switzerland’s first appearance in the final since hosting the WFC in 2019, and it also signifies a historic moment as either Sweden or Finland will leave without a medal for the first time ever.

With Finland and Sweden missing out on their usual WFC final, these two teams will now face off for the bronze medals on Sunday.
