
Thailand became the first team to qualify for the World Floorball Championships 2026 from the AOFC Qualification event. They secured their spot as group winners after Japan beat Korea 10-3.
Thailand have been victorious in the current AOFC Qualification tournament in Wellington, New Zealand. They have played three matches and won them all: against Japan, Australia and Hong Kong, China. They have two matches remaining in this qualification event – last group stage match against Korea and then the final against opponents yet to be determined. As the group winners, they are already through to the WFC.
Qualification for WFC 2026 is continuation of a successful few months as Thailand won gold at the 2025 SEA Games after beating Philippines in the final. The World Floorball Championships in Tampere, Finland will be the 6th consecutive WFC for Team Thailand, having last finished 14th in Malmö, Sweden in 2024.
The Men’s WFC 2026 AOFC Qualifications continue as there are three more days left. Last group stage matches are in the programme on Saturday, the play-offs and quarter-finals on Sunday and finally, the placement matches and third-place play-off as well as the final on Monday. Three more teams will qualify for the final round in Tampere, Finland – the group winner as well as the winners of the quarter-finals who are heading to the third place match.
