Men’s WFCQ EUR2, Event Disciplinary Function, FINAL DECISION, Christian Morcillo Gallardo (Team Spain)

The Event Disciplinary Function (EDF) of the Men’s WFCQ EUR2 has issued its final decision regarding the red card shown to the Head Coach of Team Spain, Christian Morcillo Gallardo, during the match between Spain and Italy at the IFF Men’s World Floorball Championships EUR2 Qualification.

The incident occurred immediately after the final whistle of the match played on Wednesday, 5 February 2026. After the end of the game, the Spanish Head Coach left the designated substitution zone, entered the field of play, crossed the centre line onto the opponent’s side, and acted in a confrontational and aggressive manner towards the Italian team. The referees intervened promptly to prevent a potential altercation, with assistance from Spanish players, who helped remove the coach from the situation. Following this, the Head Coach continued his misconduct by directing insulting and aggressive verbal remarks towards the referees.

The threatening and abusive remarks were directly observed by the match referees and the Jury Chair and were also visible in the official match video. Based on these observations, the referees correctly imposed a match penalty (red card) in accordance with the IFF Rules of the Game, Rule 614:14, which covers threatening conduct and results in an automatic one-match suspension.

In accordance with the IFF Juridical Regulations, Christian Morcillo submitted a written statement in his defence. The EDF reviewed this statement together with the referees’ report, the Jury Chair’s report, the match video footage, and all other relevant documentation related to the incident.

As a result, the EDF imposed a suspension for two (2) matches, which is the maximum sanction the EDF can apply within this event. This sanction excludes Christian Morcillo Gallardo from the remainder of the WFCQ EUR2 event.

As the EDF determined that a longer suspension may be warranted, the case will be referred to the IFF Disciplinary Committee for further review and consideration of possible additional sanctions.
