The Women’s U19 World Floorball Championships 2026 European Qualification event wrapped up yesterday in Berlin, Germany. The hosts, Germany, and Hungary have qualified from this event and will complete the line-up for the U19 WFC 2026 in Italy this May.

The matches at the Women’s U19 World Floorball Championships 2026 EUR Qualification were played over five days, from Wednesday to Sunday, with each team playing each other once. Germany were the first to qualify, securing their place in the finals on Saturday after a 16-0 victory against France. Germany won all their matches: they beat Austria 9-2 in their first match, then Ukraine 12-1, France 16-0 and finally Hungary 6-1. Michelle Siedenberg was the team’s top scorer with 14 points in total (5 goals and 9 assists). Best goalkeepers also come from Germany being Pia Landherr and Linnea Konnecke who both conceded just two goals.

Sunday was a nail-biter as Austria and Hungary battled it out for the final spot in the U19 WFC. The match between them ended in a 5-5 draw. Austria knew they had to win against France and score as many goals as possible to improve their goal difference compared to Hungary. While Austria secured a 12-4 win against France, they still had to wait for the result of the match between Hungary and Germany to find out if they had qualified. Unfortunately for them, Hungary defended brilliantly against Germany, conceding only one goal in the first period. Even though Germany largely controlled the match, Hungary still managed to score. Despite Germany winning 6-1, this result meant that Hungary qualified for the U19 WFC ahead of Austria, by a margin of three goals.

Hungary won two matches (against France and Ukraine), drew against Austria, and lost against Germany. Their key players were team captain Orsolya Galfi and Csenge Gombas, who were also the top scorers of the event – Gombas with 15 points (8 goals and 7 assists) and Galfi with 14 points (8 goals and 6 assists). The U19 World Championships in Italy will be the second consecutive U19 WFC for Team Hungary, who finished 14th in Lahti in 2024.

Ukraine, on the other hand, made a comeback to the international stage after 12 years away. The U19 Women’s team last participated in the 2014 World Championships, playing in Division B back then. They started their campaign brilliantly with a 10-4 win against France but suffered defeats after that. Still, this event was a big step forward for Ukrainian floorball.
