Vienna/Alterlaa played host to the Women’s -IFL Final 4. Like its Men’s equivalent the Women’s W-IFL stands for genuine cooperation and competition across national borders – overseen by the Austrian Floorball Federation (ÖFBV).
Four teams remained from three nations, with one goal: to win the title in one of the most exciting and diverse women’s leagues in Central Europe.
FBC Munich – Munich, Germany
Phoenix Fireball – Budapest, Hungary
SZPK Mentőangyalok Komárom – Komárom, Hungary
SPG HSI/Wikings Zell – Zell am See, Austria
High-class Semi-Final matches
The semi-final matches on February 21st in the Vienna/Alterlaa hall kicked off the weekend in fine form.
FBC Munich – Phoenix Fireball 3:2
In an intense, evenly matched duel, FBC Munich narrowly prevailed 3-2. Fast ball circulation, consistent forechecking, and disciplined positioning characterised the game. Munich demonstrated greater efficiency in the decisive moments – and composure in the final phase when Phoenix risked everything with an aggressive late offensive, however it wasn’t enough as the German side held on to book their place in the final on Sunday.

SZPK Mentőangyalok Komárom – SPG HSI/Wikings Zell 5:2
Komárom from Hungary demonstrated their class in the second semi-final, defeating Austrian side SPG HSI/Wikings Zell 5-2. The Hungarian team played from a compact defense and repeatedly launched dangerous counter-attacks. With quick transitions, precise through balls, and clinical finishing after breakaways, they underlined their quality as a classic counter-attacking team, finishing off with the win, despite a large crowd for the Austrian side.

Third place match: Phoenix rewards itself
Sunday started off with Phoenix Fireball securing third place with a 3-1 victory against SPG HSI/Wikings Zell. With high work rate, intelligent spacing, and a strong performance from their goalkeeper, Phoenix controlled the game. A well-deserved end to a hard-fought season for the team from Budapest.
The final: Munich’s triumph in a thriller against Komárom
The grand finale at 12:30 pm lived up to its promise – and exceeded all expectations.
A game that had it all: pace, emotion, tactical finesse, and drama right up to the final minute. Komárom stuck to their game plan: deep-lying, compact in the slot, and incredibly dangerous on the counter-attack. The Hungarian side repeatedly capitalised on turnovers to launch swift counter-attacks, seeking a direct route to goal – a tactic that posed significant challenges for Munich.
But the Munich women found solutions. With patient build-up play, flexible zone coverage, and cleverly exploited power plays, they created chances and maintained a high tempo. Particularly impressive was the mental strength of FBC. Just last year, Munich had been defeated by the Austrian team WFV – now they returned, more mature, more united, and with a clear mission.
The decisive goal for 4-3 came during a period of maximum intensity. In the final minutes, Komárom pressed relentlessly for the equalizer, relying heavily on fast breaks. Munich defended passionately, blocked shots in the slot, and held onto their narrow lead until the final whistle, sparking celebrations.

The W-IFL: A flagship project with a future
With the entry of FBC Munich, the cross-border competition was revitalised. Today, the W-IFL unites clubs from three nations and stands for sporting quality, structural cooperation, and a clear vision: to sustainably strengthen women’s floorball, across borders.
The Final Four in Vienna was organized by the Austrian Floorball Federation (ÖFBV) , with fantastic support from the players of the Vienna Women’s Football Association (WFV) , who made a significant contribution to its success both organizationally and on-site.
A weekend that set new standards
The W-IFL Final 4, 2026, in Vienna was more than a tournament. It was a statement. For quality. For international cooperation. For the appeal of women’s floorball.
FBC Munich crowns itself champion – but above all, one thing won this weekend: international women’s floorball.
