Champions Cup 2026, Event Disciplinary Function, FINAL DECISION, Mikuláš Komárek (Tatran Střešovice)

The Event Disciplinary Function (EDF) of the IFF Champions Cup 2026 has given a one match suspension to Mikuláš Komárek from Tatran Střešovice.

In the IFF Champions Cup 2026 quarterfinal match of Zug United v Tatran Střešovice on 23rd September, Komárek made contact with his elbow to the head of an opponent. This action was not penalised by the referees and an EDF review was requested by Zug United. The footage of the incident is linked below.

In making their decision the EDF reviewed video footage, a report from the referees of the match, the Technical Delegate match report, the statement from Zug United, as well as statement from Komárek. Their finding was as follows:

The EDF has taken note of Mikuláš Komárek’s statement. It shares his view that the action was not deliberate and that there was no malicious intent on his part. The EDF also observed in the video footage that he expressed concern for Tobias Gustafsson and offered an apology. However, the EDF maintains that, even without direct intent, the forceful action with the arm, which resulted in Mr. Gustafsson being struck with an elbow to the head, constitutes an offence that should have been penalised with a match penalty, in accordance with Rule 614:3 of the Rules of the Game: “When a player is guilty of violent physical play.”

The EDF decision is to suspend Komárek for one match, making him ineligible for Tatran Střešovice’s next match in the IFF Champions Cup 2026, which will be the first round of the semi-finals. The date and opponent for this match will be decided after the Champions Cup semi-final ballot draw on 7th October.  Komárek will be eligible for selection in the second semi-final match.
