Floorball history is about to be made in Chengdu, China, as the world’s top women’s national teams prepare to compete at The World Games 2025. Taking place from 6th – 13th August at the Xindu Xiangcheng Sports Centre, the tournament features eight elite women’s teams, including two making a historic first appearance for their nations in floorball at TWG.
The last major women’s international floorball event was held in Singapore in December 2023, where Sweden once again took home gold. Sweden alongside Finland, Czechia and Switzerland qualified for TWG and Slovakia, finishing fifth, secured the final qualifying spot and is now preparing for a landmark debut at The World Games.
Canada qualified through a separate and victorious TWG Qualification where they played three back-to-back games against USA. Singapore and Thailand were the last two teams to qualify as they took the two top placements at the World Championships Qualifications in Singapore earlier this year.
As a significant milestone for the sport, both Slovakia and Singapore will make their first ever appearance in The World Games floorball competition and not just for women’s teams. These countries will be the first to represent their nations in floorball at The World Games, demonstrating the global expansion of the sport.
