The International Floorball Federation handed out the inaugural IFF Player of the Year awards in August 2025.
The award recognises players (female and male) who best exemplify skill, determination, team success, and sporting character on and off the court during the past season. This is a form of acknowledgement for athletes by the governing organisation of the sport. It is a new IFF award, and a logical follow up on the launch of the IFF Hall of Fame in 2021. The Floorball community has asked IFF to create such an award, with wishes for clear and transparent rules for the nomination and voting process.
All national federations that had registered for the WFC 2024 were eligible to nominate candidates and cast votes. The candidates were nominated earlier this year, and the voting took place from 19th May – 16th June 2025. Votes were given by national team head coaches, national team captains and national federation media. Further, also selected media and manufactures were invited to vote.

Women: Veera Kauppi
She had another stellar year in the Swedish Superleague by amassing 97 points breaking the previous record (which was also by her). With her club side Thorengruppen she became Swedish champion and runner-up in the IFF Champions Cup. During this year she also became the player with most points in any Finnish floorball national team surpassing floorball-legend Mika Kohonen.
Men: Justus Kainulainen
On his route to winning the second Finnish F-liiga championship in a row with Esport Oilers he scored 43 goals in 30 games accumulating a total of 70 points. Even though missing the last four games in the playoff run with 27 points he was second in the scorer table. Justus was also an incremental player when Finland won the World Floorball Championships 2024 in Malmö when he also scored twice in the memorable come-back final against Sweden.
Final voting results
(Scoring was based on votes choosing their top three selections for each gender (1st selection 5 pts / 2nd selection 3pts / 3rd selection 1pt)
