At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the International World Games Association (IWGA) held on Saturday the 25th of April at the Olympic Museum, a new leadership team was chosen to lead the future of The World Games. The International Floorball Federation (IFF) is proud to announce that its Secretary General, John Liljelund, has been elected as the Treasurer of the IWGA Executive Committee for the 2026–2030 term.
The meeting also marked a major change in the organisation’s leadership. Anna Arzhanova, President of the World Underwater Federation (CMAS), was elected as the new President of the IWGA, succeeding José Perurena after his successful 12-year tenure.
Expertise in Global Sports Governance
John Liljelund’s election as Treasurer—one of the three primary positions within the association—is a major step forward for floorball’s influence. Having already served one successful term as a member of the IWGA Executive Committee (ExCo), Liljelund now moves into more important role.
Liljelund remains a central figure in international sports. In addition to his work with the IFF, he serves as the Vice President of ARISF (Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations). This dual role ensures that floorball continues to have a strong voice in the most important discussions within the Olympic movement.
– It is a great honor to be entrusted with the role of Treasurer by our member federations, says John Liljelund. “Having served on the Executive Committee for the past term, I am excited to contribute even more to the IWGA leadership. My focus will be on keeping the IWGA financially strong and transparent, providing the best possible platform for all sports as we build on the experience from Chengdu 2025.”
