Some new amendments to the IFF Transfer Regulations have been approved by the IFF Executive Committee and will be active, effective immediately. See below for a summary of the new changes:
Transfer Window Length
The Transfer Window has now been extended from its original closing date of January 15th every year to January 31st
All transfers therefore must now arrive to the IFF official address during the period of 1st of May to 31st of January at midnight CET and shall be carried out with the official IFF Transfer Form. Please notice, that international transfers are still only valid from 1st of July onwards.
Student Transfer
As per discussions with players and teams, there has been a big change to Student Transfers. Instead of a 60 day transfer the new Student Transfer is now valid for 150 days and due to this increased validity and length the cost has also been increased from 55 CHF to 110 CHF
An intermediate student transfer can be granted during the official transfer period for a player, who is to study in a foreign country and who wants to play in club in this country. A Student transfer can be made valid for a specific 150 day period based on the application of a player, including the written proof of her/his studies abroad. The transfer fee for this transfer is 110 CHF. When the 150 days period is over the player automatically transfers back to the original club and no separate transfer is needed. Student transfers can be granted only once per transfer season.
Temporary Transfer period
Previously temporary transfers were only valid from the 1st of May until the 31st of August. The start date of 1st of May has now been changed to after the player in question’s competition has concluded for the season (Championships, Playoffs, Playdowns etc) at both their previous and new side. This now allows players to temporarily play for another team as soon as the competition has concluded in their new club’s country. For example, a player moving from Finland to Sweden may only move once the Swedish championships/season has concluded and would then be valid for two club tournaments (such as Czech Open & Singapore Open) onwards and not for regular season play (SSL for example).
Only players being licensed for a club taking part in an International Elite Club match or tournament shall be eligible to play for the club concerned. A Club may grant their players, who is under contractual basis, an exemption (Temporary Play) from this regulation for participation with another Club in a specified friendly international tournament. The tournament must be played between the end of the current season of the respective player’s and new teams’ championship and the 31st of August and the tournament shall allow such participation. The player shall not be under suspension. The player can only test play in two tournaments per time window.
