A sold-out OSTRAVAR ARENA, filled with 8,844 amazing fans, witnessed the historic first-ever final appearance of the Czech women’s national team. The crowd also pushed the overall attendance record at the Women’s World Floorball Championships beyond 67,000 spectators. However, the final belonged to Switzerland — and above all to goalkeeper Lara Heini, who allowed not a single goal and led her team to their second world title, ending a 20-year wait for Switzerland. The Swiss team lifted up the brand new THE ONE BALL TROPHY as the first in a history!

Switzerland – Czechia 2:0 (1:0, 0:0, 1:0)

The 15th final in the history of the Women’s World Floorball Championships got underway in a packed Ostravar Arena. The first notable chance came late in the fourth minute, when Brucháčková tested the Swiss goalkeeper, but Heini was equal to the task. Czechia were more active and dangerous during the first half of the opening period. In the ninth minute, a Swiss foul gave the home side their first power play of the game. The Czech Lionesses hit the post early in the advantage but ultimately failed to capitalise. Instead, it was Switzerland who struck first — and, as it turned out, decisively. In the 13th minute, Céline Stettler beat the goalkeeper with a shot from mid-range. The second period once again began in Czechia’s favour, and for the second time in the match they rattled the post. The home side increased the pressure, while Switzerland focused more on disciplined defence and quick counter-attacks. Chance after chance followed for Czechia, but greater accuracy, a bit of luck, or the outstanding Lara Heini — deservedly named the tournament’s best goalkeeper — always stood in the way. In the 39th minute, the Czech team struck the post for the third time, this time through Vendula Beránková. Czechia continued their strong performance in the third period. Switzerland struggled to gain possession but their relentless defensive effort prevented any breakthrough. Despite the Czech players’ push for an equaliser, their confidence was repeatedly crushed by the Swiss heroine in goal. In the 58th minute, Czechia opted for six attackers. Heini produced several more key saves, and with 38 seconds remaining, Swiss captain Isabelle Gerig sealed the result by scoring into the empty net — putting the final stamp on Switzerland’s second Women’s World Floorball Championships title.
