Already during the first semi-final of the Women’s World Floorball Championships in Brno and Ostrava, the all-time attendance record was broken — and it has since surpassed the 50,000 mark. A major contribution came from the nearly 6,000 spectators who watched the clash between Czechia and Finland. The current total stands at 51,972 spectators and will continue to rise on Sunday, when medals will be decided. Fans, thank you!
The ongoing championships have surpassed the previous record from 2019, when more than 44,500 spectators attended the World Floorball Championships in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Czech Floorball has thus reached another major milestone and now holds the attendance record for both men’s and women’s senior World Floorball Championships.
– It is great to see that the goals we set have been fulfilled. We established a new overall attendance record even before the final day of the tournament, which is a huge reward not only for everyone involved in organising the event, but above all for every fan who came to the stands during the championships. I believe the final matches here in Ostravar Arena were a strong enough showcase to help us also break the record for attendance on finals day, says Daniel Novák, President of Czech Floorball.
– I would like to thank everyone involved in organising the World Floorball Championships for their tireless work, thanks to which we are already back at the top of the overall attendance rankings. Even now, one day before the end of the championships, I can confidently say that we have once again elevated our hosting reputation. I am immensely proud of all of us, adds Petr Chvojka, Secretary General of the Women’s World Floorball Championships.
The final day of the World Floorball Championships will begin in the morning with matches for 5th and 7th place. At 12:45, the bronze medal game will follow, featuring a historic first-ever meeting between the two Nordic powerhouses. From 16:00, the final will take place, with Czechia battling for their first-ever world championship title. Come and break records with us!
