The World Games Athlete of the Year 2025 nominees announced!

The International World Games Association (IWGA) has today announced the 30 candidates nominated for The World Games Athlete of the Year 2025. Filip Langer is representing floorball in the contest.

Each candidate has been nominated by their respective International Federation (IF) in recognition of their exceptional achievements and significant contributions to their sport during 2025. IFF chose to nominate Filip Langer for his astonishing performance in The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China where he led Czechia to claim bronze medals.

The voting period for this esteemed award will officially commence on the 12th January 2026 at 12:00 GMT, inviting sports enthusiasts from around the globe to participate in selecting their favorite athletes.

Voting will conclude on the 2nd of February 2026 at 12:00 GMT. A preliminary elimination round will occur on the 26th of January 2026 at 12:00 GMT, where only the Top 10 ranked candidates will progress to the final stage.

Voting Rules

Voting will take place on The World Games website, allowing a maximum of one voting session every 24 hours.

Each voting session must include two candidates:

  • First choice: 2 votes
  • Second choice: 1 vote

Votes submitted for only one candidate will not be counted.

On the 26th January 2026 at 12:00 GMT, the 10 highest-ranked candidates will move on to the final voting stage, at which point all vote totals will reset to zero.

Vote counts will be updated in real time throughout the campaign.

All voters are expected to uphold the principles of fair play in sports. The IWGA will closely monitor the voting process, and any irregularities will be thoroughly investigated. Actions that go against the spirit of sportsmanship may lead to appropriate consequences.
